LFP Now Has 732 Members
& 21 Chapters

LFP is making steady progress since we tried to regularize its membership late last year. Currently, 732 are its regular members which is frankly beyond our expectations; we hope that all of them will continue to play an active role in its affairs, and will pay their fees annually, which helps in paying our office rental and one staff member. If we desire to build Pakistan then we should all learn to stand on our own feet, instead of relying on donor assistance at every step. There are additionally 471 members whose membership has been approved but who have yet to clear their dues.

LFP Congratulates the Nation for the Anti-Corruption Verdict

LFP has welcomed the December 16 (the day Pakistan was dismembered 38 years ago) decision of Supreme Court on the NRO (National Reconciliation Ordinance); and has called it a landmark judgment and the first step toward a corruption-free country.

The Order means that the NRO never existed. Consequently, all the cases that were withdrawn, the investigations that were prematurely ended, and the convictions that were set aside as a result of the NRO have returned to their pre-Oct 5, 2007 status.

LFP History

LFP is registered as a society under the Societies Registration Act 1860 on October 25/ 2001.

The organization started with an ambitious object to promote in Pakistan liberalism as set out in the International Liberal Manifesto (April 1947), and values such as freedom, tolerance, social justice, equality of opportunity, rule of law, pluralism, and supremacy of democratic norms.

It was the aspiration of the founding members that the members and office bearers of LFP would be interested and devoted to the cause of liberalism, and would not only give their time but would also support LFP activities to as large an extent as their resources permitted

It is now about time that all sympathizers and supporters of LFP realize that it is our job to introduce LFP as a political force in the country which advocates liberalism. It should have its flag that could be waved in political rallies. We want liberals to be holding our flag rather than that of other political parties.

We need a group of devoted liberals even if the number is small. We want commitment and quality rather than quantity. We want these committed members to give LFP something that they have. We all should feel the difference in this regard!
