Tolerance is Foundation of Liberalism
On March 19, LFP Faisalabad Chapter has conducted a seminar on Peace & Tolerance clubbed with chapter’s election to elect the office bearers for the year 2011. Dr Hajra Tariq was unanimously elected as the President, Mian Rehan Maqbool as the General Secretary and Mr Abdul Hameed as the Information Secretary.
The speakers at the seminar included Mr Ikram Zahid (former president District Bar),Mr Zafar Dogar (Express News), Professor Rana Irum, and Mr Rafial Thamas (Minorities Representative)
Ms Hajra Tariq briefed the participants about LFP and its objectives.
Mr Ikram Zahid said that we need freedom of expression to promote tolerance in our society in order to live a prosperous and peaceful life.
Mr.Zafar called for adopting tolerance which is the foundation of liberalism and a peaceful community. He said Islam always focused on peace and tolerance.
Prof Rana Irum said that good governance meant taking adequate care of neglected and vulnerable segment of the population and this segment should be brought into the mainstream to establish a peaceful and tolerant society.
Mr Taamas lamented that minorities are ill treated and do not enjoy complete rights. He said that minorities should be given a respectful status in society so that a tolerant and peaceful society may be achieved.

Faisalabad Chapter Elects New Office-Bearers
On February 26, Mr. Olaf Kellerhoff Resident Representative FNF, Mr. Khurram Shahzad Admin & Finance Manager attended a meeting convened by the LFP Faisalabad Chapter to elect new office bearers for the year 2010. Dr. Hajra Tariq was unanimously elected as the President, while Mr. Muzamil Raza as the General Secretary, and Mr. Rehan Asad Maqbool as the Information Secretary.
