Khushab Chapter Says that Tolerance a Central Value of Islam
On Feb 20, LFP Khushab Chapter organized a seminar on Peace & Tolerance. The speakers at the seminar included Dr Shahid Gill (former District Council member), Professor Musarat, Mr Rasheed Rabani and Mr Rehmat Masih.
Dr Shahid Gill was of the opinion that an individual is free to adopt any religion which he likes; and this right should be respected.
Father Rehmat Masis said that all religions talk about peace and tolerance; and all lead to service and loving the humanity.
Mr Rasheed Rabbani stated that religious intolerance breeds mistrust, ill-will and chaos in the society and leads to the collapse of the social, economic and political order.
Professor Mussarat said that peace and tolerance was the central value of Islam.
Seminar ended with a question and answer session and a word of thanks by Muhammed Ghazanafer.
Khushab Chapter Holds a Quiz Competition on Liberalism
Mr Ghulam Mustafa won the Quiz Competition on Liberalism organized by LFP Khushab chapter on August 8, 2010. Twenty five members participated and cash prizes were distributed among the position holders.
Mr Asif got the second and Mian Mulazim Hussain got the third prize.
Quiz competition was clubbed with a seminar on “Liberalism”. Muhammad Ghazanfar welcomed the participants on the Chapter’s behalf.
Suleman Muzaffar Khan told the participants about LFP and its functioning’s.
Mr. Jaffar Hussain Bhutta said we can define liberalism as social responsibility and we must respect the rights of other.
Prof. Hameed delivered a lecture comparing Liberalism in the context of Islamic value. He also talked about the basic rights of individuals.
Mr. Tiwana talked about the rule of law and its impact in building progressive societies. He emphasized the importance of equality of citizen at all levels and speedy justice system to bring a revolutionary change in our society which will make Pakistan a progressive liberal state.
Mr. Bashir Haider presented his poem on Aakhri Inqilab and briefed the participants about the themes of his painting displayed in the hall.
A liberal poet Mr. Atta Abbasi presented a poem on the occasion.
The program ended with a question and answer session.
Khushab Hold seminar on Local Government & Governance
On February 18 LFP’s Khushab Chapter organized a seminar on the subject of “Local Government & Governance”. Mr. Ghulam Muhammad Tiwana District Nazim Khushab, Mr. Suleman Muzaffar Khan Manager Programs, Muhammad Hayat ® Principle, Malik Fazal Elahi Advocate, Malik Ghazanfar Coordinator LFP Khushab and Mr. Raja Javed Spoke to the seminar.
Ghulam Muhammad Tiwana said that we are yet not decided about our municipal system; local government is the system in which common man is empowered through which various problem could be solve at district level. He added local government system needs to be implemented with its full spirit of implementation. He quoted an example that all government officers are answerable to the district nazim but practically not. He further said when a government official appointed or visit to the district to serve the people; everyone visit them to pay regards just because of self interest. Beaurecracy has created most of the hurdles in the system of empowerment because they think this system will challenge their authorities. If government officials change their attitude most of social problem eliminated.
Mr. Suleman said LFP is a membership based organization committed to respect the individual’s freedom so they make their own decision with responsibility. He has introduced the LFP functioning as well principal of liberalism.
Mr. Muhammad Ghazanfar briefly presentation on Liberals point of view on Local Governments. He said community should be empowered according to their capacity to deliver. Man is center of the state and evolution of power is proper word than devolution. The problem of this resourceful and beautiful country is diagnosed; which is centralization. Common people are kept away from the functions of government. Due to this the people are not loyal to the public office and they think them self as rulers then servants.
Raja Wajid highlighted the present Local government and said we should ensured the participation of women, labour/peasant and minorities in this system. This will be work more effectively. This system gave the opportunity to women, peasants and minority & makes sure their participation in decision making.

Khushab Chapter Elects New Office-Bearers
On February 18, Mr. Suleman Khan Manager Programs LFP attended a meeting convened by the LFP Khushab Chapter to elect office bearers for the year 2010.
Mr. Ghazanfar Malik was unanimously elected as the President, while Mr. Raja Shoaib as the General Secretary, and Mr. Ghulam Mustafa as the Information Secretary.
The newly elected persons & Manger Program spoke on the occasion, and discussed ways to more effectively organize the Chapter locally.
